BARBERSHOP a la Jean Crockett Kane

Certified Music Arranger
Arrangements in 4-part harmony, Barbershop Style
About Me

As a long-time Sweet Adeline music arranger I have arranged both contest and non-contest songs.  I am an experienced quartet member (Regional champion quartet), have been a chorus director, judge (Approved Candidate Judge, Music Category then Certified Judge, Expression Category), faculty member, and have held many Regional administrative positions including Regent.

Being "in the right place at the right time" I was privileged to serve on the International Board of Directors for approximately seven years, holding International positions as Education Committee Chairman, Special Crafts Committee Chairman (initiated first Sweet Adeline International Music Schools taught by member faculty), Judging Chairman (wrote the first version of the Expression Category and gave it its name), Pitch Pipe Planning Committee Chairman, and Public Relations Committee Chairman.

Sweet Adelines has been the creative focus of my entire adult life. I love the Barbershop craft that has developed through the years and continues to develop. My goal in arranging is to create and maintain harmony in every song that I do. Barbershop IS harmony and deserves the best we can give it. I strive to provide strong chords that will ring, as well as musical interest in my arrangements.

For over seventeen years, my primary arranging activity was in helping aspiring arrangers in Region 21 through teaching workshops and my leadership in the formation and success of the Region 21 Arrangers Development Program. In teaching, I have learned many lessons! In 2005 I was thrilled to receive the Region 21 Hall of Fame Award "For giving selflessly of her time, talents and expertise for the love and joy of singing and for having a profound impact on the entire membership of our region." Wow!

I hope you will sing and enjoy my music.
